From the Media Center

Are the websites your students are using for their research authoritative? How do they go about deciding what online resources to use? I can help students learn skills to be better critical users of information. I am available to do a mini presentation and hands-on lesson about using online resources anytime. Please let me know if I can help! Thanks, Mary Alice Osborne, Library Media Specialist

From the Computer Lab

Thanks for your help!

I am happy to report that we have had no major incidents with the carts in the last two weeks. Thanks so much for your attention to this and your work to help us manage the carts on a daily basis.

Teacher Website Template

I have been working to put together a teacher website template. If you would like the tech department to help you use the template and to put together a new and improved classroom website, let me know. I also have some students who would like to assist you as well. Call and set up an appointment. We're ready to help.

Word/Excel bug in Student Accounts

Unfortunately as many of you have already found out, there is a Microsoft Office bug in the student accounts that doesn't allow the students to save files to the desktop or documents folder. A workaround is to have them save to the picture folder and then copy the file to the desktop. If they do that, they'll be able to access the word document from any computer. If they leave their file in the "Pictures" folder, they will only be able to access it from the computer they were using at the time they saved the file.

Site of the Month

Several of your colleagues are enjoying using Edmodo an educational site builder that lets you connect with your students in a variety of ways. You can plan your courses, provide access to handouts, give quizzes, etc. within this educational "social networking" environment. If you are interested go to edmodo.com to see how it works or contact me and I'll connect you with colleagues who are currently using the site.
