Labels and Filters

Many of you use folders (“labels” as Gmail calls them) to organize your mail.

Here’s how to use filters to automatically put your label on your emails and put them in “folders” or delete them without ever seeing them:

First, check one of the emails you want to filter:

Then, create a filter:

Customize your filter:

(in this case, I’m creating a filter for any email address to ray-staff with NSR (not school related) in the subject line)


Click “Create filter with this search” at the bottom, and you’ll see:

To create a label, click on the triangles next to “Create a label”:

Now you’ll have a label in the left hand column, which you can color code if you like.
