Where are my programs?

You probably open a program by clicking its icon in the Dock:

The Dock does not "contain" programs, though. It's just a convenient way to open things. If you want to open a program but its icon is not in the Dock, you can get to it through the Applications folder. Here's how to find your way there.

1. Click somewhere on the desktop so that the word "Finder" is the name of the first menu, in the upper left.

2. Click the "Go" menu and select "Applications."

3. This will open the folder containing (most of) the programs on the computer.
