Why can't my students copy/edit this Google Doc?

Q: "Why can't my students 'make a copy' of this Google Doc?"

A: Possibly because it's not actually a Google Doc yet. When you create something outside of Google Drive, using Word for example, and then you upload it to Drive, you need to make sure it actually converts to a Google Doc in order to allow for all the Googly features.
